I’m using the HP Data Protector for taking Online or Offline backup of my servers So while taking backup i got the below error:
Following error occurred while storing detail catalog information for device to Data Protector Internal Database:
[12:1168] There is no more space in the Internal Database for filenames.
From this point on, all objects on this medium
will have logging switched to “No Log”.
As per the error message, There is no more space in the internal database for filenames So Follow the below instruction to solve the backup problem :
1. Open the DP GUI, go to “internal database”.
2. In internal database click on the “+” sign near usage >> Inside the Usage Tab there is the first option which is ” Catalog Database ” click on the “+” sign to see sub options.
Now there is multiples of option you’ll see like Filename, Obeject versions, Objects, Positions, Sessions.
As we got the error i.e. “There is no more space in the Internal Database for filenames.”
3. So to check the Space, Right click on the Filenames >> Go to Propertiese >>
You’ll get the Internal Database Records Usage of Filenames, Check the Used and Free records.
If there is no any free records then we need to add new extension file.
4. Follow the below steps to add new Extension File :
a ) Right click on Filenames, and select “add new extension file”.
In path field it will show the default Path, For example ” C:\ProgramData\OmniBack\db40\datafiles\cdb ”
b) So just add a new filename in that path and Leave Maximume size default and click finish.
Now you have added the new filename in Catalog Database and you can see the new extension file in “Filenames” Tab.
Now run any test backup, this will complete successfully.
