I’m using Symentec Netbackup 7.6 for taking daily backup of all servers. Now i have added one tape in Netbackup Volume Group and when i’m trying to change the Volume group of the same tape then it is showing me the below error that means i can’t delete the assinged media so i’m not able to change the volume group or delete the tape from volume group:
Cannot delete assigned volume
Cannot delete assinged media
Now to delete the assinged media, if there is any image on the media then need to expire the media from EMM database.
To expire the media execute the below command:
1.Go to below path:
2. to expire the media:
./bpexpdate -m (Media ID) -d 0
then your Media (Tape) will get expire in EMM database and now you’ll be able to delete the Media (Tape) in Netbackup.
3.Now go to Netbackup GUI >> Media and Device Management >> Media >> Select the Media (Tape) >> Right Click >> click on Delete.
or you can delete media from EMM database with command also :
./vmdelete -m (Media ID)
The assigned media / tape is deleted now without any error 🙂
